When is the very last space shuttle flight supposed to take place ... When is the entire fleet supposed to be mothballed? What technology is going to replace the space shuttle?

If you are talking about a new spacecraft, the answer is nothing. NASA has nothing to replace it, but private companies, such as SpaceX might. If you are talking about new methods of launching into outer space, the answer is also nothing becuase rocket are still the best and proven method of going to space. In regards to our national debt, all aspect of government spending will eventually be cut across all agencies. So cutting NASA won't be the key answer to fixing the national debt, but just part of something bigger.What technology is going to replace the Space Shuttle?
No replacement is being built. Are you kidding about the national debt? Zeroing out the entire NASA budget would not make a dent in the national debt or even one year's deficit.
2011 the shuttle will fly last.Then no replacement by nasa so far.
