What is the difference between Computer Engineering and Information Technology?

Hii everybody, i am a student who is going to join an engineering college this year. But i would like to know what is the difference between Computer Engineering and Information Technology? Which course has a lot of programming? Which one is recommendable?

P.S. Also i would like to know the syllabus.

Greatly appreciate your help. Thank You!What is the difference between Computer Engineering and Information Technology?
At most schools, a Computer Engineering program will pertain to computer hardware; while an Information Technology program will pertain to computer software. Information Technology is likely to require more programming, though there will be programming in both courses of study.
