Is Information Technology a good choice of course?

Hi! My name is Karl and I am planning to take up Information Technology in college because I really am fond of computers and the internet. I just want to know the following:

1. What is Information Technology all about?

2. What are the possible jobs that I can have after I finished studying Information Technology?

Thanks for answering! Is Information Technology a good choice of course?
Every business, large or small, desperately needs lots and lots of information from a stunning variety of sources. You got to keep track of your tax liability. You got to keep track of local, state and federal regulations: is your facility up to code? Are you aware of your obligations regarding workman's comp? Does your facility comply with OSHA regs?

And internally, you got to keep up with demand, and that takes all sorts of tracking and record-keeping: how many pounds does your shop use over a month's production run? How much paper do you use? How much ink do your printers consume in a month? How can you economize on all that so that your overhead does not overwhelm your anticipate income?

That is what your IT department does - it helps you keep track of all the above and much more.

IT pays well. An experienced programmer/analyst can expect $50 - $65 thousand a year, and in some situations, six-figure salaries can be had.

As you draw toward the end of your studies, your school will be able to offer you job counseling services, which will tell you what the possible jobs are.

I took Info-Tech in college (granted, that was quite some time ago), but it opens up a wide area of study for you.

Information Technology is really about the technology of computers, their 'languages', hardware, software, programming, networking, etc.

Possible jobs once you finish the I/T program? Network analyst, I/T Support Services, Web Design, Systems Analyst, Systems Design....there is a wide variety of jobs you can apply yourself to - it all depends on which area of I/T you prefer.

Good luck %26amp; enjoy....Is Information Technology a good choice of course?
i don't think so,because of the degrading market and faulty market conditions the field has lost its zenith.Due to market price inflation and the lowering use of IT SECTORS the others are more advanced and developed. You could also pursue engineering as a good choice. Its vast and enables u to do the best in any market situations.
