My own way of putting it would be technology which fits the particular needs of Africa both in health, educational and economic terms (and the three are closely tied). One has to identify the key areas where limited resources can do the most good. One example of useful new technology may be the emergence of mini and micro gas turbine generators which may be good for electricity generation for important applications in isolated communities.
