What's your thoughts of how technology might empower both teachers and learners?

Can you describe all of the ways you think technology should be used in the schools today? Also, consider how technology has changed the way that students learn and how this impacts teaching and education in general. Details, examples, explanation etc....

Your opinion is important!!

Thank you! What's your thoughts of how technology might empower both teachers and learners?
I think technology has many benefits, but many pitfalls as well. I'm noticing nowadays that some teachers think that putting on a video, or a slideshow, or doing exercises online can replace true teaching. This isn't the case. Technology should only be used when it supplements one-on-one, real human contact with the student and teacher. What's your thoughts of how technology might empower both teachers and learners?
I utilized it quite a bit when I worked in the field of special education. Having worked with students who were non-verbal and some were physically challenged, the technology was a Godsend. Voice input devices were especially useful.

Programs that taught the students reading and math skills, which were self directed and allowed them to self check were also great assets. What's your thoughts of how technology might empower both teachers and learners?
Well, my mom is a middle school teacher and she has an Active Board. And they have a lot of cool thinks like active vote. Also, there's jeopardy. Also, there's the smartboard, which is a lot of fun! :D
