What is a music technology degree and what sort of job would one obtain with it?

I'm working on a bachelors in viola performance from the New England Conservatory, but I have no idea what a music technology degree entails, however it sounds interesting for graduate study because I'm interested in technology as well as music...any information would be appreciated, I'm trying to research it...thanks!What is a music technology degree and what sort of job would one obtain with it?
The technology aspect of music . Recording and equipment , Enginerring , microphone placement , repair of recording equipment , MIDI , Pro Tools , and the technical aspects of music form the engineer or the soundmans perspective .
I have to disagree with the last answer. You still have to audition either vocally or instrumentally like all other music majors or submit a CD with 3 or 4 original songs that you produced, edited, mixed, and recorded by yourself. I'd like to see where the "real" music majors get without a producer.
