What was the major turning point allowing all this technology to be invented?

In the past like 50 years or so more technology has been invented than in the previous millions of years. How can this be? What was the turning point that allowed us this to happen? Is all this technology ruining the world and ruining what it means to be a human being. What is it going to be like in the next 50 years?What was the major turning point allowing all this technology to be invented?
People People. Edison did not invent electricity. Or even discover it.



Edison's workshop turned out many electrical devices, Light bulbs, stock tickers But electrical experimentation had been going on since the 17th century.



Ben Franklin experimented with electricity. Tesla invented the AC motor, and championed AC power distribution.



The SemiConductor was invented in 1947. Transistors were in common use by the early 60s



Hopefully our technological world will survive the next 50 years. If it does not one persons predictions will come anywhere close to what will be happening then.



It was the Moon landing initiative and NASA that gave us much of what we know today of technology. Space is our destiny and we throw it all away fighting bull sh*t wars.

It all started with Edison inventing electricity. That changed the world. In the next 50 years, Asia's culture will dominate, and there will be overpopulation with all the problems that brings. Yet medicine will still advance.

semiconductors - transistors much smaller, lower power and faster than valves... then fabrication to make lots on chips leading to low power, cheap computing etc etc
